Accountant I | PODS

The Tone:
This is a hybrid position for an Accountant I at PODS, located three days a week onsite in their Clearwater, FL HQ. This company provides portable storage solutions. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting through diligent execution of month-end close activities, general ledger management, and adherence to internal control procedures. The Accountant I contributes to the foundational financial health of the organization by maintaining precise records and supporting audit processes.

• Mission: To accurately prepare financial records, support month-end close processes, and ensure adherence to internal controls for reliable financial reporting.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Month-End Close & GL Management: Accurately and consistently prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for assigned general ledger accounts, including understanding normal activity, accruals, reversals, and classifications.
• Financial Analysis: Research reconciling items and unusual variances within accounts, proactively identifying discrepancies and seeking clarification when necessary.
• Account Ownership & Business Acumen: Develop a strong working understanding of the accounts owned, recognizing their business drivers and connections to broader company operations.
• Internal Controls & Audit Support: Execute established internal control procedures, maintain clean documentation, and prepare supporting schedules for internal and external audit requests.
• Team Collaboration & Development: Contribute to team objectives by assisting with ad hoc requests and projects, and demonstrate readiness to assume new account areas and responsibilities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an associate’s degree combined with additional relevant experience. This is an entry-level position.
• Experience: 0-2 years of accounting experience, including any internships.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, a willingness to ask questions and learn, basic knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), comfort with modern productivity and AI tools, the ability to act with integrity, analytical thinking, and a capacity to learn new information quickly.
