Junior Accountant | Summit Wash Holdings

This is a full-time role at Summit Wash Holdings, located in Norwalk, CT with a flexible office/remote schedule. As a Junior Accountant, you will gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of accounting and exposure to the full month-end close process. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, providing reliable data platforms that fuel the company’s business decisions and operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Support monthly and year-end closing processes, including review of general ledger activity for unusual transactions and necessary corrections.
• Record: Prepare and accurately post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation, maintaining organized, audit-ready records for assigned accounts.
• Reconcile: Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations, research reconciling items, and assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
• Manage: Maintain prepaid expense schedules, prepare monthly amortization entries, and assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
• Collaborate: Work with operations and other departments to gather information for accurate accounting, assist with external audit and tax requests, and identify opportunities to improve or automate accounting processes.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; basic understanding of U.S. GAAP and accrual accounting.
• Experience: 0-2 years of accounting experience, including relevant internship experience; strong Excel skills.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to manage multiple deadlines, good analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong written and verbal communication.
• Bonus: Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, Netsuite, SAP), interest in pursuing CPA licensure, or experience with automation tools and AI for process improvement.
