Finance Analyst Intern – Home Office (Summer 2027) | Kiewit
The Tone:
This is an internship at Kiewit, located in Omaha, NE. Kiewit is a construction and engineering organization with projects spanning across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, aiming to improve and connect communities with every initiative. This role is focused on supporting project accounting and finance functions, making it integral to the month-end close out process and critical tasks such as cost control, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, human capital management, and compliance. The company depends on high-performing operations support professionals who are the glue that holds multiple areas of the business together.

• Mission: Support project accounting and finance functions, focusing on critical tasks such as cost control, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, human capital management, and compliance.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups
What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Provide critical support for project-related accounting and finance functions, becoming skilled at executing processes.
• Execute: Utilize tools related to different types of cost and revenue components, including labor, construction equipment, materials, and subcontracts.
• Participate: Be an integral part of the month-end close out process and assist with preparing a financial reporting package for project management.
• Troubleshoot: Demonstrate understanding of the accounts payable process workflow and resolve payment or vendor issues.
• Review: Examine costs, quantity claiming, budget structure, and exception reports, making appropriate corrections to ensure accurate management reporting.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management, and/or an equivalent degree; this is an Entry-Level position.
• Experience: Minimum GPA of 3.0 or above. Experience working with Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other key Excel functions is preferred.
• Skills: Possess effective communication (both oral and written), strong organizational, and interpersonal skills with good attention to detail to recognize discrepancies.
• Bonus: Exhibit a positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and a passion for continuous improvement. Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship, both now and in the future.
