Staff Accountant, Tax | Omnicom

The Tone:
This is a full-time, in-person role at Omnicom, located in either the NYC or Jersey City office, requiring five days per week in-office presence. Omnicom is a multinational organization, and this position plays a critical part in supporting ongoing Federal and State income tax compliance, audits, and select tax planning initiatives. It provides an excellent opportunity for an early-career tax professional to gain broad exposure to corporate taxation and develop technical expertise within a collaborative team.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Compliance Preparation: Prepare and analyze components of federal, state, and local taxable income calculations.
• External Coordination: Coordinate with external tax service providers to support timely and accurate return filings and review state and local income tax returns.
• Research & Analysis: Assist with Research & Development (R&D) credit studies, support documentation, and research tax issues while summarizing conclusions for internal stakeholders.
• Tax Payments & Audits: Support the preparation and tracking of estimated and extension tax payments, and assist with income tax audits including responding to notices.
• Data Management: Track, organize, and manage correspondence from taxing authorities, maintain knowledge of legal entities, and collaborate cross-functionally to gather required data.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of tax accounting experience in a tax department within a multinational company and/or a public accounting firm.
• Skills: Knowledge of Excel (Pivot tables, Vlookups, If formulas) and other Microsoft Office tools, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, detail-oriented with strong planning and organization skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, effective communication skills.
• Bonus: CPA or Masters in Taxation desired; experience with data or automation tools (e.g., Alteryx) is a plus.
