Assurance Intern, Industry Specialty Services – Summer 2027 | BDO USA

The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at BDO USA, located in Ridgeland, MS. BDO USA is an ESOP company providing assurance, tax, and advisory services to clients globally, helping them navigate complexity and grow with confidence. This role is crucial for delivering industry-specific solutions within sectors like Nonprofit & Grantmaker Advisory and Higher Education, aligning with BDO’s purpose and values. The intern will gain hands-on experience, forge critical relationships, and contribute to the firm’s success by assisting with client engagement.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Deliverables: Assists in developing initial deliverables and solutions for client issues.
• Analysis: Provides guidance and analytical insight on financial trends and prepares strong written work products.
• Research: Assists with researching compliance topics like Uniform Guidance and Federal procurement issues.
• Optimization: Supports the planning and implementation of financial systems and processes with an eye towards optimization.
• Collaboration: Participates in client engagements and presentations as part of a project team.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or advanced degree program in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Public Policy, or Nonprofit Management. US citizenship is required for this role.
• Experience: Past leadership experience, experience working in or in partnership with the nonprofit sector, or experience in consulting, finance, accounting, or other operational functions is preferred.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication, strong analytical and basic research skills, and solid organizational skills.
