Accounting Intern | Rapid Response Monitoring

The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at Rapid Response Monitoring, located in Syracuse, NY. Rapid Response Monitoring is a national leader in the monitoring of alarms and security systems, designated as an Essential Business by the Department of Homeland Security. Founded and headquartered in Syracuse since 1992, the company protects life and property for thousands of alarm companies across the country, serving as a critical response center 24/7, 365 days a year. This role offers valuable hands-on experience by supporting the accounting and finance team with daily clerical tasks, financial record-keeping, and crucial assistance for month-end and year-end closing activities, directly contributing to the company’s operational integrity.

• Mission: Support the accounting and finance team by performing clerical tasks and assisting with financial record-keeping and compliance.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting Support: Assist the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial, or Tax teams with a variety of daily tasks, ensuring smooth departmental operations.
• Financial Closing & Audits: Provide direct support to the financial team for month-end and year-end closing activities, and prepare essential supporting documentation for audits and financial reporting.
• Record Management: Organize and accurately file both digital and physical financial documents, maintaining a structured and accessible record system.
• Data Reconciliation: Update the accounting database with current information, perform account reconciliations, and promptly identify and report any discrepancies to ensure data accuracy.
• Tax Compliance Assistance: Support the Tax team by gathering and organizing financial data for compliance and audit purposes, including performing research on regulatory updates and preparing documentation for tax filings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, demonstrating a foundational understanding of core accounting principles.
• Experience: This role is designed for an entry-level professional seeking hands-on experience with accounting procedures and financial record-keeping in a corporate environment.
• Skills: Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required. Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with keen attention to detail, are essential for success.
• Bonus: The ability to work effectively in a corporate setting, meet deadlines, and maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive financial information is highly valued.
