Internal Audit Intern | Union Home Mortgage Corp.
The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Union Home Mortgage Corp., located in Strongsville, Ohio. The L.E.A.D Internship Program aims to provide a real-world environment where interns learn about the mortgage industry, receive education from senior leadership and peers, achieve personal goals, and develop skills and knowledge. The program includes initiatives such as shadowing, mentoring, professional development, and group projects, designed to support intern learning and growth. Interns are considered full-time Partners, working 40 hours per week during the three-month summer program, and are compensated. This role offers the opportunity to be a productive member of the Internal Audit Department, learning to conduct audits from start to finish using a 13-Step Audit Methodology, gaining significant practical experience.

• Mission: To support the Internal Audit Department by learning and applying a comprehensive audit methodology, conducting assigned testing, and collaborating across the company to ensure effective internal controls and facilitate corrective actions.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Methodology: Learn and apply the 13-Step Internal Audit Methodology to conduct comprehensive audits.
• Testing: Execute assigned audit testing procedures to evaluate internal controls.
• Planning: Develop and update audit scope and testing plans, ensuring controls function as intended.
• Reporting: Prepare detailed audit reports, accurately stating findings, observations, and suggested corrective actions.
• Collaboration: Work with various departments and leaders to implement necessary corrective actions.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level college student with Junior or Senior standing, pursuing a degree in Accounting, Business, Law, or Finance, or demonstrating an interest in Internal Audit.
• Experience: No prior professional experience is required beyond academic standing.
• Skills: Attention to detail, Ability to multitask, Strong verbal and written communication skills, Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, Inquisitive.
