Intern, Finance | Harbinger

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Harbinger, located in Garden Grove, CA. Harbinger is an American commercial electric vehicle (EV) company dedicated to transforming an industry hungry for new solutions. They are building a first-of-its-kind EV platform to meet the rising demand for medium-duty EVs and Hybrids. This role is crucial for the Production Finance team, supporting the company during a vital production ramp and product launch phase. The intern will help establish scalable financial processes, enhance data visibility, and automate manual workflows, directly contributing to improving factory operations through better financial insights.

The TL;DR

• Pay: $25–$35 hourly
• Team: Production Finance, intersecting with Manufacturing, Quality, Material Planning, and Logistics.
• Mission: To build scalable financial processes, improve data visibility, and automate manual workflows for the Production Finance team, specifically supporting manufacturing operations during a production ramp.
• Tech Stack: NetSuite, Google Sheets, NSAW (NetSuite Analytics Warehouse) dashboards, Excel

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting: Support comprehensive financial reporting and analysis for Manufacturing, Quality, Material Planning, and Logistics functions, including tracking direct and indirect labor costs, non-compensation costs, inventory movements, material consumption, and freight logistics.
• Model Development: Assist in building and maintaining production-focused financial models and develop standardized tracking tools and templates to improve monthly close, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Process Automation: Identify and analyze manual, spreadsheet-heavy workflows, then help design and implement more scalable, automated solutions. This includes assisting with building automation-friendly trackers using formulas and structured logic.
• Data Integrity & Dashboards: Improve data integrity and repeatability by standardizing inputs across systems like NetSuite and Google Sheets, and support the creation of dashboards and key performance indicators for production leaders.
• System Enablement & Documentation: Support the Production Finance team in utilizing and improving financial systems and planning tools, helping to organize process documentation, data definitions, and shared folder structures, and assisting with data reconciliation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Must be authorized to work in the United States or able to obtain a J-1/F-1 visa.
• Experience: No specific years of experience are required for this internship role.
• Skills:
• An analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining data and findings simply.
• Comfort working with data utilizing Google Sheets or Excel.
• A self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently.
• An interest in manufacturing, operations, and data-driven problem solving.
• Bonus: Prior internship or work experience in finance, analytics, operations, or engineering. Proficiency in Python. Currently pursuing or completed an MBA or other related Master’s program.
