Intern – Finance | Nassau Financial Group

The Tone:
This is a 10-week summer internship at Nassau Financial Group, located in Hartford, CT. Nassau is a financial services company with an integrated platform across insurance and asset management. This internship program prepares college students for careers in the financial services industry, offering hands-on experience and exposure to real-world business challenges within a corporate finance environment. The program allows Nassau to build relationships with the top talent of the future.

• Mission: Provide students with hands-on experience in financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to develop a strong understanding of financial operations within the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting: Assist in quarterly and annual GAAP and statutory financial reporting, preparing disclosures and supporting documentation.
• Financial Analysis: Support financial planning, forecasting, and expense management activities, including preparing presentations and summarizing results.
• Audit and Controls: Gain exposure to the auditing profession, learn about risks and controls, and support audit procedures and testing.
• General Ledger Management: Prepare and record entries, run queries, and reconcile accounts within the General Ledger system.
• Project Collaboration: Collaborate on ad hoc projects across Finance, providing research, analysis, and administrative support as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields.
• Experience: No prior years of experience required. Experience utilizing financial systems and tools is beneficial.
• Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong technology skills, detail-oriented.
• Bonus: Knowledge of insurance and financial markets, ability to identify and evaluate potential issues or improvement opportunities.
