2027 Summer Corporate Intern – Accounting | Caterpillar Inc.

The Tone:
This is a 40-hour-per-week onsite internship at Caterpillar Inc., located in multiple locations across the US, including Peoria, IL. The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: 40-hour-per-week onsite assignment, Monday through Friday, lasting 12 weeks in the summer (May 17, 2027 – August 6, 2027)
• Location: In-person – Peoria, IL
• Pay: $22.50–$40.25 hourly
• Mission: Gain valuable on-the-job experience and contribute to real-world accounting projects within various corporate accounting functions.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reporting: Create reports on financial performance for both internal and external use.
• Project Participation: Take part in special projects and fulfill ad hoc reporting requests.
• Forecasting: Estimate various forecast and budget scenarios for financial planning.
• Data Management: Specify, build, maintain, and run data extracts from various subsystems that contain account-level information.
• Daily Operations: Produce a daily balance sheet to assist the trading desk and perform transactional entries and report reconciliations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be currently pursuing a degree at a 4-year accredited university/college in an Accounting degree program, at the time of application and throughout the internship program, with a minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA (both Accounting GPA & Cumulative GPA).
• Experience: Must have 12 completed semester hours at a 4-year university before the start of the internship; if a transfer student, 12 semester hours completed at a 4-year university.
• Skills: Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail, analytical thinking for problem-solving, effective communication abilities, strong capacity for managing multiple priorities, and intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Bonus: Previous accounting internship and/or relevant work experience, completion of Intermediate Accounting or a first 300-level accounting course by the start of the internship, strong initiative and interpersonal skills, and leadership involvement in student associations.
