Corporate Accountant | Zipline
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Zipline. Zipline is the world’s largest and most experienced drone delivery service, designing, building, and operating an autonomous logistics system to deliver critical supplies like food, medicine, and retail products across four continents. This role is essential for ensuring Zipline’s financial data accurately reflects the physical movement of goods and assets across the business. The Corporate Accountant will contribute to accurate and scalable financial closing processes for inventory, manufacturing, maintenance, and logistics, directly impacting the company’s global operations.

• Team: Part of the Finance/Accounting function, working closely and collaboratively with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Operations teams.
• Mission: To support the accurate, complete, and timely month-end close process by ensuring financial data precisely reflects the physical movement of Zipline’s goods and assets across the business, improving overall financial reporting and operational accounting.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Month-End Close Support: Run recurring reports related to inventory, freight, and other operational accounting areas to facilitate the timely month-end close process.
• Financial Review & Analysis: Prepare first-level review packages, including inventory activity, roll forwards, reconciliations, and cycle counts, while assisting with cost validation and variance analysis of unusual trends.
• Master Data & Asset Management: Maintain and validate critical master data such as location types, product categories, and inventory classifications, and support fixed asset review processes including additions, disposals, and transfers.
• Operational Reporting & KPIs: Assist with specialized inventory reporting for manufacturing, spares, and R&D, and help develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for spares, inventory movements, and cycle count performance.
• Process Improvement & Audit: Identify and address process gaps or control risks to improve accounting efficiency and scalability, and support both internal and external audit requests for inventory, freight, and fixed assets.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career professional with foundational knowledge in accounting principles, particularly focusing on the month-end close process and the financial aspects of inventory, manufacturing, maintenance, and logistics.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to support recurring accounting operations, including preparing initial financial review packages, assisting with cost validation, and investigating unusual accounting activity. This role requires experience in maintaining accurate master data management and supporting cycle count processes.
• Skills: Proficient in operational accounting processes, detailed financial data reconciliation and analysis, cycle count testing and reporting, and ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of inventory and fixed asset data.
