What You’ll Actually Do
• Payroll Administration: Manage the biweekly processing of payroll, including the preparation and entry of related journal entries to ensure accurate financial records.
• Month-End Support and Reconciliation: Support the efficient completion of month-end close processes and perform comprehensive bank and revenue reconciliations.
• Invoice and General Ledger Management: Prepare accurate contract invoices and manage the entry of recurring general ledger entries to maintain financial consistency.
• Revenue Accounting: Accurately record all incoming contributions, grants, and other various receipts, ensuring proper classification and documentation.
• Financial Reporting and Audit Assistance: Assist with the preparation for audits and support the Finance team with general reporting needs, contributing to transparency and compliance.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This position is designed for an Entry-Level professional seeking to grow their career in accounting. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is preferred, providing a foundational understanding for the responsibilities of this role.
• Experience: The ideal candidate will bring 1–2 years of direct accounting experience. Alternatively, strong internship experience encompassing full-cycle accounting or audit procedures will be highly valued, demonstrating practical application of accounting principles.
• Skills: Critical skills for success include a proven ability to handle journal entries, perform detailed reconciliations, and contribute effectively to month-end close procedures. Strong proficiency in Excel is essential for data analysis and reporting, coupled with exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all financial records.
• Bonus: Experience providing support for biweekly payroll processing is considered a significant advantage. Furthermore, prior exposure to or experience with accounting software such as Sage or payroll platforms like Paylocity would be a valuable asset.
