Summer Tax Intern | Voith Group

This is a seasonal internship at Voith Group, located in Appleton, WI. This Summer Tax Intern role is crucial for providing practical experience in corporate taxation, allowing an individual to work alongside experienced professionals while developing a foundational understanding of federal, state, local, and international tax compliance processes.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Compliance: Assist with the preparation and filing of various tax documents, including sales and use tax, property tax, and Canadian GST/QST filings. This also involves supporting the meticulous preparation of US federal, state, and local income tax returns and their associated workpapers.
• Data Management & Record Keeping: Systematically gather and organize crucial financial data that will be utilized in both tax compliance and tax provision processes. Additionally, help maintain comprehensive tax records, supporting schedules, and essential electronic filing documentation.
• Tax Research: Conduct basic tax research using both internal company resources and external professional resources to provide informed insights and support departmental queries.
• Financial Reconciliation: Assist with the preparation and reconciliation of fixed asset tax depreciation schedules and related information. This also includes supporting various tax account reconciliations and conducting variance analysis to ensure accuracy.
• Project Support & Collaboration: Actively participate in ongoing tax process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency. Furthermore, complete special projects and other assigned duties from the Tax Manager and/or Tax Director, fostering collaborative efforts with Accounting, Finance, and other internal departments.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field. Completion of introductory accounting coursework is required.
• Experience: No specific prior work experience is required, but completion of introductory accounting coursework is mandatory.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational and time management abilities, excellent attention to detail, robust analytical and problem-solving skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Bonus: Completion of corporate or individual taxation coursework is preferred.
