Junior Staff Accountant | Kirby Company

What You’ll Actually Do
• Journal Entries: Prepare and post various recurring, accrual, prepaid, and adjusting journal entries into Epicor and AS400.
• Close & Ledger Maintenance: Complete assigned close tasks on schedule, typically by business day five, and help maintain a clean and properly coded general ledger.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile bank accounts monthly and various balance sheet accounts, including AR, AP, prepaids, accruals, intercompany, and clearing accounts, resolving items and investigating variances.
• Accounts Receivable Support: Apply customer payments, clear unapplied cash, maintain the AR aging, follow up on past-due balances, and support collections efforts.
• Reporting and Audit Preparation: Prepare Excel schedules and account analyses for management and financial statements, support quarterly and year-end reporting, and assist with annual audit and tax filing schedules.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a solid understanding of US GAAP fundamentals and accrual accounting.
• Experience: 0–2 years of general ledger or accounting experience, including relevant internships or co-op experience.
• Skills: Solid Excel basics, including comfort with pivot tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, the ability to learn ERP systems, strong analytical thinking, and effective communication skills.
• Bonus: Hands-on experience with Epicor, manufacturing or distribution industry experience, or exposure to asset-based lending or borrowing base reporting.
