The Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE) fosters student-faculty interactions and supports programs that enhance undergraduate lives. This role contributes to the Bing Overseas Studies Program (BOSP), which provides global educational experiences, by ensuring precise financial management for its worldwide operations. The Accountant is vital in maintaining the financial integrity and compliance necessary to support BOSP’s mission of inspiring students in complex global settings.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Processing: Review, process, gather, and compile accounting transactions and documents to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established procedures.
• Expense Management: Manage and approve expenses and purchase orders for various programs and centers, including tracking and reconciling travel expenses and advances for faculty and staff.
• Financial Reporting: Utilize financial reports and databases from multiple systems to gather data, prepare reports, handbooks, and guides, and assist with budgeting and funding processes.
• Compliance and Resolution: Identify and resolve accounting issues, including incorrect journal entries and student account problems, while enforcing business expense and travel compliance policies.
• Process Improvement: Recommend, assist with testing, and implement process streamlining, system improvements, or workflow changes, contributing to the development of desktop procedures.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An Associate degree combined with at least two years of applicable work experience, demonstrating an understanding and ability to apply accounting skills and concepts.
• Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in financial processing, reconciliation, and data analysis.
• Skills: Proficiency in basic business applications, including Microsoft Office and user knowledge of Excel, basic knowledge of accounting systems, and the ability to draft professional communications.
• Bonus: Ability to learn project management skills and participate effectively as part of a project team.
