Accounting and CFO Advisory Internship – Summer 2027 – San Francisco | Frank, Rimerman + Co. LLP

The Tone:
This is an Accounting and CFO Advisory Internship at Frank, Rimerman + Co. LLP, located in San Francisco, CA. The firm’s growing Accounting and CFO Advisory (ACFO) practice is composed of over 60 talented and collaborative professionals. This team specializes in managing the accounting, finance, and HR functions for various startups, providing essential outsourced controller and CFO advisory services to early and mid-stage companies. This internship is designed to immerse individuals in the firm’s unique values, culture, and client work, playing a crucial role in enabling entrepreneurs to focus on their core business growth while jumpstarting the intern’s technical, professional, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Engagement: Participate in client meetings and engagement planning sessions.
• Transaction Processing: Assist in the processing of client financial transactions.
• Month-End Close: Support clients with the month-end closing of their financial records.
• Workpaper Preparation: Utilize analytical and technical skills to complete ACFO workpapers.
• Project Execution: Complete assigned special projects for clients.
• Strategic Observation: Potentially observe clients as they prepare for and evaluate potential rounds of funding or mergers and acquisitions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s program, pursuing a degree in business with a strong emphasis in accounting. This position is suitable for entry-level candidates seeking their first professional experience in the field.
• Experience: Applicants must have completed at least one accounting course to qualify for an interview and be on track to complete a minimum of three accounting courses prior to the internship program start date. A key requirement is a final graduation date that ensures eligibility for California CPA licensure between December 2027 and August 2028.
• Skills: Clear, professional written and oral communication is essential for client and team interactions. Candidates should possess developing analytical and technical skills necessary for completing ACFO workpapers. A strong motivation to obtain a CPA license is also required.
• Bonus: A minimum overall GPA of 3.2 is preferred, with specific requirements of “B” grades or above in all accounting courses completed.
