Accounting Intern – Summer 2027 | WhiteWater

The Tone:
This is an internship at WhiteWater, located in downtown Austin, Texas, requiring in-office presence and the ability to provide your own housing. This role offers a foundational experience within WhiteWater’s accounting department, providing hands-on exposure to core financial operations. Interns will directly contribute to the preparation of accounting transactions and month-end close entries, as well as assisting with monthly reporting and various team projects. This is an opportunity to apply theoretical accounting knowledge in a practical business setting, directly supporting the company’s financial integrity, operational efficiency, and compliance with accounting standards.

• Mission: To support the accounting department by processing financial data, contributing to month-end closing, and assisting with reporting and projects to ensure accurate financial records.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Entry: Accurately enter accounting data into the ERP system to ensure precise record-keeping of financial transactions.
• Month-End Activities: Prepare and complete monthly journal entries and perform detailed account reconciliations to support the month-end closing process.
• Compliance Assistance: Assist the operations department with interpreting new revenue contracts and determining the proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.
• Process Development: Support the accounting department in developing procedures to improve workflow efficiency and maintain robust internal controls.
• Knowledge Synthesis: Prepare and deliver a comprehensive presentation to management highlighting the skills and knowledge gained by the internship’s conclusion.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Successful candidates must have completed at least four (4) semesters of college or university curriculum and be currently enrolled toward a degree in Finance or Accounting, including a minimum of 9 hours in accounting coursework.
• Experience: Demonstrated success in completing team projects and working effectively in a team environment.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong academic aptitude and well-developed analytical problem-solving skills; proven ability to apply strong diligence and multi-task efficiently.
• Bonus: Flexibility regarding internship duration may be considered for local candidates, and the ability to maintain regular attendance is required.
