The Tone:
This is an internship at GreatAmerica, which offers hybrid work arrangements based out of Cedar Rapids, IA. This role is a key addition to a strong and collaborative Accounting team, where the intern will gain hands-on experience and receive mentorship from experienced team members. The intern will independently own recurring responsibilities, contributing to meaningful accounting work and strengthening their accounting knowledge, practical Excel skills, and overall capabilities applicable to their academic and future career pursuits.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconcile: Accurately reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure financial data integrity.
• Contribute: Contribute to the monthly financial closing process, aiding in timely report generation.
• Support: Support the annual financial statement audit by preparing necessary documentation and assisting auditors.
• Audit: Prepare and meticulously audit recurring operational reports for accuracy and insights.
• Compile: Compile monthly reports for various external customer programs, adhering to specific requirements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must be actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree or a graduate degree in Accounting, demonstrating a strong academic commitment with a minimum GPA of 3.25.
• Experience: No previous work experience is strictly required for this internship. However, prior internships or any work experience within finance or accounting will be considered a valuable advantage.
• Skills: Essential skills for this role include proficiency with Microsoft Excel, a strong detail-oriented approach, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated initiative, and sound business judgment.
• Bonus: Prior internships or work experience in finance or accounting.
