Senior Engineer I – Validation | Microchip Technology

What You’ll Actually Do
• Plan: Develop comprehensive test plans and execute end-to-end validation according to product datasheets and specifications.
• Setup: Design and establish test environments by defining hardware and software requirements, selecting appropriate lab equipment, and supporting test board bring-up and validation activities.
• Execute: Perform post-silicon validation activities, including test development and execution, data collection, analysis, and comprehensive documentation of results.
• Debug: Debug issues observed during validation and assist in replicating customer-reported problems in the lab.
• Collaborate: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, firmware, applications) to ensure product quality and timely issue resolution.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering or a related field, with a focus on validation, testing, and hardware development.
• Experience: 5-7 years of relevant industry experience in validation, testing, and hardware development, including hands-on experience in hardware development (schematic design, PCB layout understanding, PCB bring-up), debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Skills: Familiarity with USB, Ethernet, or TSN protocols; working knowledge of scripting languages like Python or TCL/TK for automation; strong knowledge of microcontrollers and microprocessor architectures; knowledge of interface protocols such as SPI/SQI, I2C, UART, and JTAG; hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
• Bonus: Strong knowledge in pre-silicon validation using FPGA emulation platforms; basic knowledge of programming languages (C/C++); practical knowledge of Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI).
