Senior Engineer I – Validation | Microchip Technology

What You’ll Actually Do
• Test Plan Development: Develop comprehensive test plans and execute end-to-end validation according to product datasheets and specifications.
• Test Environment Setup: Design and establish test environments by defining hardware and software requirements, selecting appropriate lab equipment, and supporting test board bring-up and validation activities.
• Post-Silicon Validation: Perform post-silicon validation activities, including test development and execution, data collection, analysis, and comprehensive documentation of results.
• Issue Debugging: Debug issues observed during validation and assist in replicating customer-reported problems in the lab.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, firmware, applications) to ensure product quality and timely issue resolution.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering or a related field, with a focus on senior-level validation, testing, and hardware development.
• Experience: 5-7 years of relevant industry experience focused on validation, testing, and hardware development; this includes hands-on experience in hardware development encompassing schematic design, PCB layout understanding, and PCB bring-up, alongside strong knowledge in pre-silicon validation utilizing FPGA emulation platforms.
• Skills: Strong debugging and troubleshooting capabilities; proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or TCL/TK for test automation; basic knowledge of programming languages like C/C++; strong understanding of microcontrollers and microprocessor architectures; familiarity with interface protocols including SPI/SQI, I2C, UART, and JTAG; hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, signal generators, and traffic generators.
• Bonus: Familiarity with various communication protocols including USB (USB 2.0/3.0), USB Power Delivery, Ethernet (10/100/1G/10G/25G), and basic TSN concepts; practical knowledge of Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI); good verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently with minimal guidance while effectively collaborating within a team; strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
