Staff Accountant | Kimco Staffing Services, Inc.

The Tone:
This is a full-time Staff Accountant role at a mission-driven nonprofit organization, located hybrid in Santa Ana, CA. The organization supports other nonprofits through fiscal sponsorship, capacity-building, and consulting services, enabling them to operate effectively. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance for multiple community-based projects, directly strengthening the capabilities of organizations focused on social impact.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting Operations: Record daily accounting transactions and complete month-end close procedures, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations.
• Financial Documentation: Post journal entries for assigned projects and maintain up-to-date accounting documentation and records.
• Payment Processing: Issue vendor payments and accurately record incoming funds from grantors and funders.
• Grant & Contract Management: Support the planning, monitoring, and reporting aspects of grants and contracts.
• Project Support: Serve as a point of contact for assigned projects, building strong working relationships and addressing their financial needs.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field, or alternatively, an additional 2 years of relevant nonprofit accounting experience.
• Experience: At least 1 year of professional accounting or auditing experience.
• Skills: Proficiency in recording accounting transactions, performing month-end close procedures, completing bank reconciliations, managing journal entries, and supporting grant administration.
• Bonus: Prior experience in nonprofit accounting or audit is strongly preferred, and QuickBooks experience is highly desired.
