Assurance Intern – Winter 2028 (Austin) | BDO USA

The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at BDO USA, located in Austin, TX. BDO USA is an accounting and advisory firm providing assurance, tax, and advisory services to clients across the U.S. and around the world. As an ESOP company, BDO fosters an ownership mindset among its people, strengthening their connection to one another and their clients. This role offers energetic self-starters a hands-on opportunity to apply their accounting education, assist with client problem-solving and fact-finding, and build critical professional relationships within the firm’s Assurance practice.

• Mission: Assist in problem-solving and fact-finding within the Assurance practice, gaining hands-on experience and building professional relationships.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Training & Familiarization: Participate in structured on-the-job training to become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, and BDO-specific audit methodology.
• Audit Support: Provide various support functions to the audit staff throughout different stages of the engagement.
• Client Communication: Communicate with clients’ customers, creditors, banks, and related parties concerning audit issues.
• Documentation: Prepare and document work in working papers utilizing BDO-specific tools and templates.
• Research & Presentation: Complete one assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting, required.
• Experience: No specific years required. Leadership experience, preferred.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, required.
• Bonus: Pursuing a masters degree in Accounting, actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to follow instructions as directed, ability to work effectively in a team setting, positive attitude and willingness to learn.
