This internship is vital for supporting Hungerford’s tax department during the demanding tax season by contributing to the preparation of individual income tax returns and other essential tax documents. It offers a valuable opportunity for aspiring accounting professionals to gain foundational, paid, hands-on experience in public accounting, learn the practical operations of a firm, and directly contribute to client success while fostering their own professional growth.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Prepare individual income tax returns, primarily Form 1040, gaining practical experience in tax documentation.
• Support: Assist the tax team with the preparation of more complex individual returns, personal property tax returns, and business or partnership returns as opportunities arise.
• Document: Develop and maintain trial balances, workpapers, and depreciation schedules using Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Adhere: Learn and consistently follow Hungerford’s established firm policies, procedures, and quality standards in all tasks.
• Develop: Build an understanding of the rules, regulations, and the Code of Professional Conduct set forth by the AICPA.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level; Current undergraduate, graduate, non-traditional student, or recent graduate pursuing a degree in accounting or a related field.
• Experience: No specific years of professional experience are required, as this is an entry-level internship designed for learning and development.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, collaborative teamwork, proactive communication, familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Bonus: Preferred minimum GPA of 3.0.
