Intern Tax Winter 2028 | Forvis Mazars US

The Tone:
This is an internship at Forvis Mazars US, located in Des Moines, IA. The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Seasonal, Part-time or Full-time (early-January through April 15th for winter; early-June through mid-August for summer)
• Location: In-person – Des Moines, IA

• Team: Works alongside senior staff and management personnel
• Mission: To gain valuable experience and contribute to client engagements in the tax practice, developing technical know-how and professional skills.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office suite

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Reconciliation: Work with client personnel to reconcile account differences and analyze financial data.
• Tax Preparation: Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, or other tax returns for clients.
• Payment Calculation: Calculate tax extension or estimate payments as required for client needs.
• Client Engagement: Participate in client meetings alongside Forvis Mazars partners and managers.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Intern candidates must be working toward CPA Exam eligibility, demonstrate satisfactory academic performance in major-related coursework, and maintain a minimum cumulative overall GPA of 3.0.
• Experience: Entry-level professional experience gaining exposure to client engagements and developing technical know-how across various industries.
• Skills:
• Solid technical accounting knowledge
• Effective time management
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work well with a team as well as independently
• Close attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure and against deadlines
• Reliable transportation to and from your assigned office, with the ability to attend off-site meetings and events in person.
