Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting | Mimecast
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mimecast, located in Lexington, MA, operating within a hybrid working model. Mimecast is a leading cybersecurity company that empowers businesses to manage and mitigate human risk through its AI-powered, API-enabled connected platform. This strategic, cross-functional position is critical for leading Mimecast’s global revenue accounting function and driving its transformation agenda. The role demands technical rigor and pragmatic judgment to convert new business models, pricing constructs, and non-standard terms into compliant, repeatable, and scalable revenue treatments.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Technical Revenue Ownership: Act as the global subject matter expert on ASC 606, providing authoritative interpretation, analysis, and documented conclusions across all regions and product lines, including reviewing complex contracts and owning SSP analyses.
• Global Close and Controls: Direct the monthly, quarterly, and annual global revenue close, which includes comprehensive reviews, establishing robust controls, and performing executive-ready flux and variance analysis, while serving as the primary liaison for external auditors on all revenue matters.
• Transformation and AI Leadership: Own the transformation roadmap for revenue accounting, identifying and delivering initiatives that reduce cycle time and improve accuracy by applying AI and agentic tooling to core workflows, and building AI fluency across the Customer Finance Operations team.
• Systems and Data Management: Serve as the revenue accounting subject matter expert for NetSuite and its Advanced Revenue Management (ARM) module, influencing configuration and continuous optimization, and improving the quality and accessibility of revenue data to enable self-service analytics.
• Strategic Business Partnering: Act as a trusted advisor to Sales Operations, Deal Desk, Commercial Finance, Legal, Service Delivery, and FP&A, shaping deal structures early for significant deals and non-standard terms, and leading order-to-cash for M&A due diligence and integration.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, coupled with a CPA certification. Candidates must possess a deep, practical command of ASC 606 specifically within a SaaS or subscription environment, extending beyond theoretical knowledge to practical judgment and documentation that withstands audit scrutiny.
• Experience: 8+ years of progressive revenue accounting experience is essential, including at least 2 years in a leadership role responsible for leading and developing people. Experience in a public company or large private-equity-backed environment, demonstrating a strong understanding of internal controls and a SOX mindset, is also required.
• Skills: Hands-on experience with NetSuite and Salesforce is a must. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the use of AI tools to improve accounting or finance workflows, paired with a clear understanding of when human review is needed. Other critical skills include advanced Excel proficiency and exceptional communication skills, enabling complex technical conclusions to be clearly explained to diverse stakeholders.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include a Big 4 or large public accounting foundation, experience in cybersecurity, high-growth technology, or another complex SaaS business, and familiarity with consumption-based, usage-based, or hybrid pricing constructs. Multi-entity, multi-currency global close experience, working knowledge of SQL, Snowflake, Power BI or Tableau, and M&A diligence and integration exposure are also valued.
