Assistant Manager – Credit Relationship | Mashreq

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mashreq, located in Pakistan, specifically within the Corporate & Investment Banking Group (CIBG) – PAKCOE. Mashreq is a prominent financial institution providing a range of banking products and services, and this role is integral to its corporate banking operations. The Assistant Manager will contribute to the sound financial analysis and strategic structuring of credit facilities for corporate clients, directly impacting the bank’s risk management and profitability, ensuring robust and compliant financial solutions.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: In-person – Pakistan
• Team: Corporate & Investment Banking Group (CIBG) – PAKCOE, working in close coordination with Relationship Teams (RMs/SRMs) and a Direct Supervisor.
• Mission: To meticulously assess credit risk and efficiently structure financial facilities for corporate relationships, ensuring adherence to Mashreq’s credit policies, regulatory frameworks, and customer requirements.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial & Credit Analysis: Assist Relationship Managers in comprehensive financial analysis, detailed credit risk assessment, and precise risk rating for a portfolio of assigned corporate relationships, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
• Credit Proposal Management: Develop and prepare all types of Credit Proposals (CPs), including new facilities, annual renewals, and amendments, ensuring timely submission and high-quality analysis that meets both business and customer needs.
• Compliance & Risk Resolution: Actively liaise with both the Credit Risk Management (CRM) department and the Compliance Unit to promptly resolve all queries related to credit risk issues and compliance requirements, ensuring regulatory adherence.
• Performance & Policy Monitoring: Oversee all exposures, evaluate RAROC (Risk-Adjusted Return on Capital), and track overall profitability for assigned relationships, working with the Credit Control Unit to ensure strict adherence to lending guidelines and Credit Policy.
• Operational & Leadership Support: Review all Early Alert instances and promptly bring them to the attention of the Direct Supervisor. Additionally, during the absence of Relationship Managers (due to leave, training, or secondment), step into their role to provide essential guidance and support to the team.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Hold a degree in business or economics, with a solid foundation in credit and financial analysis within the banking and/or related financial services industry.
• Experience: Possess a minimum of 5-8 years of experience specifically in credit or financial analysis, at a similar level, gained within a banking environment or a closely related financial field.
• Skills: Demonstrate excellent analytical thinking and the ability to stay informed on macro-economic trends influencing the industry. Exhibit a thorough understanding of Mashreqbank’s internal policies and procedures, alongside a clear grasp of regulatory, operational, compliance, and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements, including local banking practices and laws. Possess excellent command over verbal and written English.
• Bonus: A post-graduate diploma, Chartered Accountancy, or a similar professional qualification will be considered a significant asset. Proficiency in the Arabic language is an added advantage, as are good inter-personal skills and participation experience in various banking initiatives and solutions.
