Strategic Sourcing Manager | Microchip Technology
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Microchip Technology, located in Penang, Malaysia. Microchip Technology designs and manufactures semiconductors that power the technology around us, enabling a diverse range of products and solutions. This role is vital for strengthening supplier capability, reducing risk, and supporting the company’s business objectives by strategically managing global sourcing initiatives. The Strategic Sourcing Manager plays a key part in ensuring supply chain efficiency and driving cost savings across the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategy Development: Develop and execute global sourcing strategies, including supplier selection, qualification, rationalization, benchmarking, TCO, and risk mitigation.
• Supplier Management: Lead supplier relationships, manage contracts, pricing agreements, and conduct performance assessments for assigned category management activities.
• Cost Optimization: Deliver cost reductions through market analysis, cost modeling, competitive sourcing, make-versus-buy analysis, and global spend leverage.
• Intelligence & Improvement: Build supplier and market intelligence to support sourcing strategy and capability assessment, while driving lean transformation and continuous improvement across procurement processes.
• Engineering Collaboration: Work with engineering teams to understand product requirements, evaluate supplier capabilities for current needs and future roadmaps, and manage sourcing through new product development.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field, with a focus on global strategic sourcing management.
• Experience: 10+ years of global strategic sourcing management experience, demonstrating strong global procurement expertise across supplier selection, risk/compliance, negotiation, roadmap alignment, and financial analysis.
• Skills: Strong negotiation skills, excellent relationship management and collaboration across internal and external stakeholders, critical thinking, problem-solving, and strong communication skills. Proficiency with ERP systems, MS Office, Advanced Excel, and MS Project.
• Bonus: Preferred certifications include ISM C.P.M., CPSM, APICS CSCP/CPIM, or equivalent, and experience with Microsoft Dynamics.
