The TL;DR

• Type: Seasonal – Part-time to Full-time

• Pay: $25–$38 hourly
• Mission: This person supports the auditing team by assisting with financial reviews, data analysis, and compliance checks, gaining hands-on experience in accounting and auditing.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Review: Analyze and review client accounting records and financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Evaluate: Evaluate internal control systems, assess audit risk, determine materiality, and ensure compliance with auditing standards through diligent inquiry, observation, and review processes.
• Prepare: Assist in preparing detailed workpapers, which serve as crucial supporting documentation for audit procedures and findings.
• Perform: Perform substantive testing and analytical review procedures to gather sufficient and appropriate audit evidence.
• Assist: Assist with various client engagements and other assigned projects, gaining broad exposure across different financial scenarios and business needs.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates must be currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior Accounting major, or in a Business-related major. Alternatively, MBA Candidates in an Accounting track program are also encouraged to apply.
• Experience: Ability to work a minimum of 20 to 40 hours per week during the internship period from January to April. This role requires the ability to commute to one of Withum’s office locations in Chicago.
• Skills: Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication and teamwork; Proficiency in computer skills essential for daily accounting and auditing tasks.
• Bonus: Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
