Assurance Intern – Winter 2028 | RSM US LLP
The Tone:
This is an internship at RSM US LLP. This role is crucial as interns collaborate with diverse companies, build client relationships, and contribute to multiple audit engagements, addressing key accounting and reporting issues to support client confidence.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Pay: $34–$40 hourly
• Mission: To assess client risks and internal controls, perform substantive tests, and resolve accounting or reporting issues as part of audit engagements.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Understanding: Understand clients’ needs and expectations, their business and industry, accounting and control systems, employees, company values, and industry-related GAAP and GAAS issues.
• Audit Approach Development: Develop an understanding of the RSM audit approach and tools used in practice.
• Risk Assessment: Assess client risks and evaluate the client’s internal control structure for effectiveness.
• Test Execution: Perform substantive tests and tests of internal controls to identify and resolve accounting or reporting issues.
• Financial Statement Drafting: Draft financial statements in accordance with prescribed formats and standards.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. 90 credit hours completed towards a B.A. / B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university, with an Accounting Major.
• Experience: Requires travel to assigned client locations with access to and ability to arrange for use of reliable modes of transportation.
• Skills: Understanding of GAAP and GAAS principles (implied through responsibilities), internal control evaluation, and financial statement preparation.
• Bonus: A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred.
