Intern – Accounting Crude Oil | Energy Transfer

The Tone:
This is a twelve-week paid internship at Energy Transfer, a master limited partnership that owns and operates one of the largest and most diversified portfolios of energy assets in the United States. The company manages approximately 120,000 miles of pipelines and other infrastructure used to facilitate the purchase and sale of crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids, and refined products. This role offers an opportunity to gain practical accounting experience within the energy sector, supporting critical financial processes and business decisions across various asset types including crude oil, natural gas, and NGL operations.

• Mission: Assist with general accounting duties, monthly close processes, and financial analysis to ensure accuracy and support business decisions within the energy assets portfolio.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconcile Accounts: Perform account reconciliations to support the accuracy of the general ledger and related sub-ledgers.
• Support Financial Close: Assist with the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements and contribute to monthly close processes for midstream, pipeline assets, and fuel distribution, working cross-functionally with other departments like measurement and scheduling.
• Contribute to Projects: Support real projects in key areas such as Crude Oil, Natural Gas, NGL & Midstream.
• Process Transactions: Work specifically within Commodity Accounting, Transportation Services, and Gas Plant Settlements.
• Aid Reporting & Analysis: Assist with Regulatory Reporting & Compliance and analyze Profit & Loss to support informed business decisions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level professional currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, majoring in Accounting or Finance, with an expected graduation date in Fall 2027 or Spring 2028. The program is a paid, twelve-week internship starting May 2027.
• Experience: Preferably junior status as of Fall 2027; completion of introductory level accounting and/or finance courses is preferred before the commencement of the internship.
• Skills: Ability to perform general accounting duties, strong computer skills, advanced Excel proficiency, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the capacity to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and responsibilities while working independently.
• Bonus: Self-motivated individual with involvement in activities outside college studies, an above-average GPA, a strong willingness to learn, the ability to organize and prioritize various functions in a fast-paced environment, and a team player who can work effectively with a diverse workforce and various levels within the organization.
