Cost Accountant | Cactus Wellhead

The Tone:

This role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial information, maintaining strong accounting controls, and providing detailed cost analysis to support the company’s operational and financial health.

• Mission: This role is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, ensure appropriate accounting control procedures, and provide critical cost and manufacturing variance reporting.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting: Conduct monthly close activities, including posting journal entries, preparing balance sheet account and sub-ledger reconciliations, and executing monthly journal entries to correct or amortize cost roll transactions.
• Cost and Variance Analysis: Analyze monthly financials for the Bossier facility, prepare written commentary, perform daily reviews of journals and reports to analyze variances as they happen, and ensure manufacturing costs are up to date.
• Inventory and Asset Management: Calculate and record monthly inventory obsolescence provisions, monitor absorption, analyze Construction in Progress for fixed asset additions, and manage non-rental fixed asset entries.
• Logistics and Tariffs: Add and monitor freight for international and domestic logistics, perform comprehensive freight and tariff analysis, accrue related costs each month-end, and analyze combination codes for branch allocation.
• Audit & Controls: Reconcile accounts related to Cost of Goods Sold and Inventory monthly, analyze and report on variance accounts, support internal control efforts, and prepare PBCs and documentation for internal and external audits.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four-year college or university. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and one to two years of related experience and/or training in general accounting responsibilities within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience: One to two years of professional experience in accounting, with a focus on manufacturing environments and cost analysis.
• Skills: Intermediate computer proficiency, including spreadsheet software; intermediate language skills for clear communication; advanced mathematical and reasoning skills for financial analysis. The ability to manage multiple deadlines and work overtime during month-end, quarter-end, year-end closings, and audit periods is essential.
• Bonus: Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred.
