Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting Intern | Regency Centers
The Tone:
This is an internship at Regency Centers, located in Jacksonville, Florida. Regency Centers is a vertically integrated real estate company and a qualified real estate investment trust (REIT) that owns and operates premier shopping centers across the country. This role is crucial for adding trained, supervised capacity during the busiest reporting periods, specifically supporting year-end close, Form 10-K, and the first-quarter Form 10-Q. The intern’s contributions ensure the timely and accurate completion of recurring preparation, reconciliation, and tie-out work, which protects both critical filing deadlines and the quality of departmental reviews.

• Mission: Absorb recurring preparation, reconciliation, and tie-out work to protect filing deadlines and review quality during peak reporting periods.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Spreadsheet Server, Active Disclosure, One Stream, general ledger or ERP system
What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting Support: Assist with the preparation and tie-out of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including footing checks, tying supporting schedules to financial statements, and processing edits.
• Corporate Accounting Support: Aid the corporate accounting team with month-end and quarter-end close procedures.
• Joint Venture Reporting: Assist with equity method and non-controlling interest schedules, and prepare partner reporting and joint venture financial statement packages.
• Data Analysis: Build and refresh Excel analyses using Spreadsheet Server, specifically for variance and fluctuation reporting used in management and external communications.
• Internal Control Documentation: Gather support for internal control testing.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student in good standing at an accredited 4-year college or university, preferably a Junior or Senior, with a declared major in Accounting or Finance.
• Experience: Minimum 3.0 GPA and completion of at least an intermediate Accounting course before the internship begins.
• Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, functions, and pivot tables; ability to handle non-public financial information with discretion; strong attention to detail and accuracy; effective organization and time management.
• Bonus: On track to meet the 150-hour education requirement for CPA licensure; coursework in financial statement analysis, auditing, accounting information systems, or real estate; prior accounting or finance internship or work experience, or a leadership role in a campus accounting organization; exposure to a general ledger or ERP system and to financial statement preparation; demonstrated interest in commercial real estate, REITs, or public company reporting.
