Head of Product – Business Banking | Mercury

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mercury, located remotely. Mercury is building a business banking product at a scale better than anything else in the market, aiming to make money movement seamless infrastructure for hundreds of thousands of businesses. This role is crucial as Business Banking is the heart of Mercury, requiring end-to-end ownership of product strategy, team leadership, deposit and payment growth, and overall business performance.

• Mission: Own the end-to-end Business Banking product, setting strategy, leading a team, driving growth, and owning business performance for Mercury.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Ownership: Own the P&L, strategy, and product offering for accounts, user experience, payments, new rails, and agents.
• Innovation: Build AI- and data-driven user experiences at scale that surpass alternatives in the market.
• Team Leadership: Recruit and lead a high-performing Product Management team, instill strong build discipline, develop future leaders, and establish an operating cadence and culture that prioritizes pace and quality.
• Product Development: Deepen the core account product by optimizing existing functions and invest in new rails, capabilities, and agents, allowing customers to focus on building their companies.
• Reliability: Make reliability and trust core product features, taking ownership of uptime, correctness, latency, and support outcomes, and being measured on these metrics.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A leader with strong product capabilities, a commercial instinct to grow the business, and the discipline to run it safely. Experience ideally in banking, payments, platforms, or financial products.
• Experience: 10+ years of overall experience, with 5+ years specifically leading product managers, including hiring, coaching, organizational design, and performance management. Proven experience launching and scaling 0-1 financial products, ideally in fintech or another high-growth environment, alongside operating a large product with real customers.
• Skills: Command of how business banking works, including account opening and KYB, deposits and liquidity, and various payment rails (ACH, wire, check, international, FedNow, RTP). Exceptional cross-functional leadership across product, engineering, design, data, risk, compliance, legal, marketing, sales, support, and partners to align behind a cohesive strategy. Sound judgment in a regulated, risk-sensitive environment, balancing delightful user experiences with necessary controls, and understanding which compromises are unacceptable in a banking product. A high bar for craft, leading a creative, customer-centered, data-driven, and experimentation-oriented approach to product development.
• Bonus: Enthusiasm for building AI- and agent-powered products that drive spectacular customer experiences.
