Project Accountant | Smart Tech Contracting, LLC
The Tone:
This is a full-time remote role at Smart Tech Contracting, LLC, available anywhere in the United States. The company delivers turnkey BAS & EPMS solutions for mission-critical data centers, unifying controls construction with software engineering and program-level governance. This role is vital for ensuring the financial integrity and smooth administration of projects within a high-stakes, fast-paced environment where quality and uptime are paramount.

• Team: Part of the Accounting Team, interacting closely with project management, field, and design staff.
• Mission: To perform standard accounting activities over the lifecycle of projects, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficient project facilitation.
• Tech Stack: M365 products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), Smartsheet, ERP / billing software, Business analysis software.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Facilitation: Provide essential support for project initiation, purchase orders, change orders, billing, and closeout, ensuring data accuracy and adherence to client and firm standards.
• Financial Monitoring: Generate and submit client billings, research and resolve invoicing discrepancies, and oversee accounts receivable and collections processes, providing timely status reports.
• Contract Administration: Manage subcontractor invoicing, coordinate project contracts and change orders, and ensure all necessary supplemental information is collected and maintained.
• Reporting & Analysis: Perform analysis and generate reports for leadership and project teams on project expenses, accounts receivable, and cash flow to support current and future needs.
• Process Enhancement: Audit project data for accuracy and collaborate with department and project managers to develop automations for project management tools.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate degree in accounting, with an intermediate level understanding of project accounting, billing projections, and contract administration.
• Experience: Minimum four years in business administration, including an administrative/support role for executives and/or project managers. Experience with complex billing schedules, invoicing, and AIA G702/G703.
• Skills: Proficiency with M365 products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and Smartsheet. Ability to communicate technical and non-technical information effectively, identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Bonus: ERP / billing software experience (Vantagepoint a plus), business analysis experience (Power BI a plus), Remote Online Notary credential.
