Staff Accountant | Career Group

The Tone:
This is a contract role at Career Group, located in San Francisco, CA. This assignment covers a maternity leave for a well-established retail organization that handles significant store development and acquisition activity. The role is critical for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting daily accounting operations, and ensuring the timely completion of high-volume retail accounting tasks. This position contributes directly to the operational stability of a small, collaborative accounting team.

• Mission: Ensure accurate financial records and support high-volume retail accounting activities, including numerous store openings and acquisitions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Accounting: Perform general accounting functions, including managing debits, credits, general ledger activities, and consolidations.
• Fixed Asset Support: Assist with fixed asset accounting by creating, retiring, and maintaining accurate asset records, primarily utilizing Oracle Fusion.
• Retail Volume Management: Support a high volume of retail activity, processing transactions related to approximately 30 store openings and significant acquisition activity.
• Process Documentation: Develop and document clear, step-by-step operational procedures and accounting processes to enhance efficiency.
• Reconciliations & Projects: Complete account reconciliations and contribute to other accounting projects as needed, ensuring timely completion of all activities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Professional accountant with 2-5 years of experience in an industry accounting environment; new graduates will not be considered.
• Experience: Proven experience with general ledger and fixed asset accounting, including the creation and retirement of assets.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs; exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage high volumes of work and prioritize competing deadlines; strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Bonus: Prior experience with Oracle Fusion or another Oracle ERP system; Big 4 accounting experience (KPMG, Deloitte, PwC, EY); retail accounting experience.
