Staff Accountant I | J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc.

You will contribute to developing effective solutions for financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting within a structured environment where routines are generally prescribed and supervision is readily available.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Performance Analysis: Assist with the analysis and review of the organization’s financial performance by collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial and statistical data.
• Financial Record Management: Maintain records of the organization’s financial activity in accordance with GAAP, internal standards, and regulatory requirements like Sarbanes-Oxley.
• Expense Strategy Support: Work with various departments to assist with their expense management strategies, procedures, and the preparation of operating budgets, including analyzing trends for budget needs.
• Cost Data Examination: Examine and review unusual cost records and ensure that cost data is allocated correctly across the organization.
• Reporting & Automation: Support the creation of standard reports on financial performance for internal and external use, and develop automated tools for updating, analyzing, and reporting consolidated financial results.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or another business-related field, providing the foundational knowledge required for this entry-level accounting position.
• Experience: Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Excel, enabling effective use of essential financial tools.
• Skills: Ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines; basic deductive reasoning skills with the ability to interpret data sets and provide actionable insights; strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: While not strictly required, candidates with 0 to 2 years of Finance and/or Accounting or relevant experience are preferred.
