Summer 2027 Internship – Accounting | Ally
The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Ally, located in Detroit, MI, designated as a hybrid role with in-office expectations. • Mission: Collaborate with experienced professionals to support accurate financial reporting and informed business decisions across Ally’s diverse business units.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting: Support the comprehensive preparation of reports filed with the SEC, including critical Forms 10-K and 10-Q, and assist with various regulatory and industry reporting requirements.
• Accounting Operations: Assist in performing detailed account analysis, preparing reconciliations, and executing financial reporting processes for Ally’s core business lines and enterprise functions.
• Tax Compliance & Planning: Contribute significantly to the preparation of tax provisions and related disclosures, support tax forecasting activities, and assist with tax return preparation and research efforts, including evaluating impacts of tax law changes.
• Internal Control Monitoring: Assist with the rigorous testing and ongoing monitoring of internal controls, support essential documentation and governance activities, and help identify and address control-related issues while promoting process improvements.
• Financial Close Activities: Contribute directly to critical month-end and quarter-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial data processing and reporting across various accounting areas.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree and entering your senior year, or actively pursuing a Master’s degree in Accounting at the time of the internship; students entering their junior year in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field may also be considered.
• Experience: Required to be graduating between December 2027 and May 2029 and able to participate for the full duration of the internship; 0+ years of general work experience and authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship are fundamental.
• Skills: Demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills essential for teamwork, coupled with a genuine interest in obtaining CPA licensure.
• Bonus: Prior accounting internship, relevant project experience, or coursework demonstrating practical accounting knowledge; leadership experience gained through student organizations, athletics, volunteer work, employment, or community involvement; a curious mindset, initiative, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
