Summer 2027 Accounting Intern | D.R. Horton
The Tone:
This is a Summer 2027 Accounting Internship at D.R. Horton, located in Austin, TX. D.R. Horton, the largest homebuilder in the U.S. and a publicly traded company since 1978, is engaged in the construction and sale of high-quality homes and provides mortgage financing and title services through its subsidiaries. This role is designed to provide students with hands-on experience, professional development, and exposure to career opportunities within D.R. Horton and the broader homebuilding and homebuying process. Interns will gain experience through departmental rotations, project work, and various learning opportunities to understand the company’s operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support daily operations within the assigned department, division, office, field location, jobsite, or business function.
• Assist with department-specific projects, research, reporting, and administrative activities as assigned.
• Learn and apply departmental responsibilities, industry terminology, business systems, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with team members and cross-functional departments to gain an understanding of how various areas support homebuilding, business operations, and the customer experience.
• Participate in training programs, meetings, and other learning opportunities designed to enhance knowledge of the Company, assigned function, and potential career paths.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university, entering junior or senior year, or recently graduated. Pursuing a degree or coursework related to the assigned internship area, including but not limited to business, technology, finance, construction, or real estate.
• Experience: Demonstrated interest in learning about career opportunities within homebuilding, financial services, land development, corporate operations, technology, or customer service.
• Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with team members and business partners; strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and follow instructions; proficient in Microsoft Office applications with the ability to learn new software, systems, and processes.
• Bonus: Candidates pursuing an advanced degree may also be considered.
