Accounting Intern | Herc Rentals

The Tone:
This is an internship at Herc Rentals. Herc Rentals is one of the leading equipment rental suppliers in North America, operating as a 10,000-person organization with approximately $4.4 billion in total revenues. This role offers an opportunity to develop accounting skills by supporting the company’s accounting and finance teams. The intern will participate in various projects crucial to the accounting close and reporting cycle.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn: Learn about the company’s accounting cycle, including reconciliations, journal entries, and internal controls, and gain exposure to various accounting and finance functions.
• Report: Prepare internal reports by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and other systems.
• Analyze: Analyze financial information by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying data.
• Record: Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and reconciling accounts.
• Comply: Understand and maintain Sarbanes Oxley internal control compliance.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance with an Accounting focus.
• Experience: Currently enrolled in a university with a minimum GPA of 2.5/3.0 in major, and completed a minimum of 9 credit hours in Accounting major coursework or similar.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
