STAT Reporting & Research Summer Internship | Selective Insurance

The Tone:
This is a summer internship at Selective Insurance, located in Short Hills, NJ (Hybrid). The Ignite Internship program is an award-winning 11-week, full-time experience designed to provide college students a comprehensive sneak peek into the insurance industry and corporate environment. Through on-the-job assignments, team projects, and exposure to senior leadership, interns develop skills, build relationships, and participate in community volunteer days. This specific role within the corporate Finance Department is crucial for assisting with financial reporting and analysis, providing critical data to inform business decisions, and ultimately supporting the company’s mission to serve customers responsibly by helping to mitigate loss and restore their lives and businesses after an insured loss occurs.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analyze: Complete daily premium analysis and reporting, comparing results to budget and prior year performance.
• Prepare: Assist in the preparation of assigned state filing schedules and supporting documentation.
• Support: Support monthly close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Assist: Assist with the preparation of assigned schedules for quarterly NAIC filings.
• Collaborate: Collaborate with departments across the organization to gather and provide information needed for reporting and filing requirements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current college student majoring in Finance or a related field; ideal candidates are full-time undergraduate college Juniors or Seniors. High School Diploma required.
• Experience: Ability to perform at a professional level.
• Skills: Demonstrated interest in learning about the insurance industry.
• Bonus: Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. College credit can be earned depending on your institution’s requirements.
