2027 Future Talent Program – Audit – Co-op | Merck

The Tone:
This is a Co-op internship at Merck, located in Rahway, NJ. Merck is a global healthcare company dedicated to inventing medicines that improve people’s lives. This role in Corporate Audit and Assurance Services is crucial for bringing financial perspectives into strategic decision-making and ensuring internal controls, business compliance, and effective risk management within a complex global healthcare system, directly contributing to the company’s mission.

• Pay: $39908–$111111 yearly
• Team: Corporate Audit and Assurance Services Co-Op participants will be placed onto audit projects and work with our Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) project management team.
• Mission: Solve vital business needs for Finance by leveraging data analytics to gain insights into business practices, internal controls, and risk management, ultimately supporting Merck’s strategy to advance medical innovation.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, data & analytic applications

What You’ll Actually Do
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the Finance organization to address vital business needs within global healthcare systems.
• Work on audit projects and support the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) project management team, gaining knowledge on products, healthcare systems, payors, and risks.
• Evaluate business operations, processes, and internal controls to effectively complete risk-based audits and develop skillsets across various business lines.
• Utilize data analytics to gain insights into business practices, internal controls, business compliance, and the execution of the company’s strategy.
• Prepare and deliver presentations to peers and leaders, sharing successes, lessons learned, and business insights.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current sophomores enrolled in a Bachelor of Science (BS) program in Finance, Accountancy, or Business Analytics.
• Experience: Entry-level with a passion and commitment to learning, along with proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Skills: Experience with Microsoft Excel, effective written and verbal communication skills, strong time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to critically problem-solve.
• Bonus: Previous internship or work experience in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics, a GPA of 3.3 or above, dedication to teamwork, demonstrated leadership, ability to self-motivate and take responsibility for personal growth, excellent interpersonal skills, and demonstration of ethics and integrity.
