Staff Accountant, Corporate Accounting | BioSpace
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at BioSpace, supporting the Corporate Accounting team of a biopharmaceutical company, located in Sleepy Hollow, NY. This position offers high visibility across Product Revenue and general ledger accounting. The Staff Accountant will own core close-process responsibilities and directly collaborate with various teams on GAAP-based accounting. This role is essential for driving efficient financial operations and contributing to the client company’s continued growth.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Revenue Accounting: Perform Product Revenue accounting activities, including sales journal entries, gross to net deductions, receivables, balance sheet reconciliations, and detailed trend analysis.
• Account Reconciliation: Own the preparation and analysis of Corporate Accounting schedules and balance sheet account reconciliations for assigned areas.
• ERP Implementation: Participate in the Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials ERP implementation and ongoing optimization efforts, including user acceptance testing (UAT) and process documentation.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze financial results, investigate period-over-period fluctuations, and prepare meaningful variance explanations for Management.
• Compliance Support: Support compliance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements, maintain documentation, and assist with internal and external audit requests.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a solid grasp of GAAP, applied to operational challenges.
• Experience: 1-3 years of general ledger accounting, audit, or corporate accounting experience, with public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) and/or publicly traded company experience considered strong assets.
• Skills: Analytical abilities for working with large datasets, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective written and verbal communication.
• Bonus: CPA or active pursuit of CPA licensure is preferred. Experience with ERP systems (Oracle GL, Oracle Fusion), financial reporting tools (SmartView, Hubble), and an interest in leveraging technology, automation, and data analytics.
