Assistant Vice President – Technology (Data Governance) | Mashreq

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead: Lead and support key data governance initiatives, identifying and managing critical data elements and domains.
• Create: Create and maintain a comprehensive Business Glossary and Data Catalog, ensuring accurate and up-to-date metadata.
• Operationalize: Assess and operationalize technical metadata harvesting, aligning it with data management standards and policies.
• Collaborate: Collaborate closely with technology leads, business analysts, data owners, and stewards to enhance the data catalog and embed a data governance culture.
• Refine: Develop and refine data governance program standards and processes related to metadata and reference data management, ensuring accountability and compliance.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Experienced professional with extensive experience in data-related projects or programs, focusing on metadata management and data governance implementation. Practical knowledge of implementing data management standards within a banking environment, such as DAMA.
• Experience: Hands-on experience with Informatica Data Governance tools (EDC, Axon, and DEQ) for tool implementation projects. Proven track record in running data governance committees and effectively communicating data governance value to stakeholders.
• Skills: In-depth understanding of data governance policies, standards, metrics, controls, and processes. Proficiency in data domain discovery, classification, taxonomy, and hierarchies to support data catalog architecture. Ability to create or enhance business glossaries by collaborating with business analysts and stakeholders. Familiarity with legal, compliance, and regulatory issues impacting data, including geographic data storage restrictions.
