Future Opportunities: Early Career Sales Talent | Gusto

The Tone:
Gusto is on a mission to grow the small business economy by providing essential services like payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and HR, allowing business owners to concentrate on their core craft and customers. This pipeline is for early career sales and onboarding roles starting in 2026, based in our Denver, San Francisco, or New York City offices, supporting over 500,000 small businesses nationwide. Your contribution will be vital in guiding new customers through their initial interactions with Gusto, helping them select the right solutions and navigate their first steps, thereby making an immediate positive impact from day one.

The TL;DR
• Role: Early Career
• Type: Full-time
• Location: Hybrid in Denver, San Francisco, New York City (2-3 days/week in office); remote possible if approved with reliable internet.
• Pay: $20.00–$28.00 hourly
• Team: Sales or Onboarding teams
• Mission: Own customer experience from first conversation through successful adoption, helping small businesses select Gusto and navigate their first steps.
• Tech Stack: Salesforce

What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Interaction: Handle high-volume inbound calls, chats, and emails from customers or partners at various stages of their journey—from discovery to onboarding.
• Advisory Selling: Serve as a trusted advisor, helping small businesses or accounting partners select the right Gusto solutions for their needs.
• Onboarding Support: Support customers through the onboarding process to ensure a smooth and successful start.
• Product Expertise: Demonstrate strong product knowledge and a commitment to ethical, customer-first selling.
• Data Management: Maintain accurate notes and pipeline details in Salesforce to ensure excellent follow-through.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early-career sales talent with a foundation in consultative environments or customer service roles.
• Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a sales or customer service role, including working in high-volume environments with inbound and outbound calling. Proven success achieving or exceeding goals and maintaining strong customer relationships.
• Skills: Comfortable using Salesforce or similar CRM systems, strong product knowledge, effective problem-solving, advisory selling, and empathy.
