Accounting Intern | Herc Rentals

The Tone:
This is an Accounting Intern position at Herc Rentals. Herc Rentals is one of North America’s leading equipment rental suppliers, with approximately 10,000 employees and total revenues reaching $4.4 billion. This role offers an opportunity to develop essential accounting skills by supporting Herc Rentals’ accounting and finance teams. The intern will participate in various projects within the accounting close and reporting cycle, contributing to the preparation of journal entries, process refinement, and internal control documentation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop accounting knowledge: Learn about Herc Rentals’ accounting cycle, including balance sheet account reconciliations, journal entries, internal controls, and financial analysis, as well as other finance functions such as General Ledger Accounting, Order to Cash, and External Reporting.
• Prepare internal reports: Gather and analyze information from the general ledger system and other systems to prepare internal financial reports.
• Maintain general ledger: Prepare general ledger entries, maintain accurate records, and reconcile accounts.
• Provide financial insights: Research and interpret data to answer accounting and financial questions.
• Ensure compliance: Understand and maintain Sarbanes Oxley internal control compliance and financial reporting requirements, including participation in assigned project work.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level position for individuals pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance with an Accounting focus.
• Experience: Currently enrolled in a university with a minimum GPA of 2.5/3.0 in the major, having completed a minimum of 9 credit hours in Accounting major coursework or similar.
• Skills: Proficient Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
