Fund Accountant | The Voleon Group
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at The Voleon Group, with operations primarily on Pacific Time. The Voleon Group is a technology company that applies state-of-the-art AI and machine learning techniques to real-world problems in finance, having led the industry in AI/ML investment management for nearly two decades. As a Fund Accountant, you will be a core member of the Finance team, running daily operations and creating infrastructure, making a significant difference in managing fund accounting, post-trade operations, and reporting for the company’s ambitious growth. You will collaborate with internationally recognized experts in machine learning research and experienced finance and technology professionals in an enriching and collegial environment.

• Location: In-person (with core team operating on Pacific Time, offering flexibility for candidates in other time zones regarding work hours)
• Pay: $90000–$110000 yearly
• Team: Reports directly to the Fund Finance Director.
• Mission: This person manages fund accounting, post-trade operations, and reporting across multiple asset classes and geographies to support Voleon’s daily operations and infrastructure scaling.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, enterprise-level accounting software, Python (preferred), SQL (preferred)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting: Maintain accuracy and provide key reporting, including the monthly and annual financial statements, tax compliance responsibilities, and treasury management related to investment funds.
• Service Provider Oversight: Work closely with service providers to ensure internal policies and control standards are consistently followed.
• Reconciliation Management: Develop and monitor daily and monthly reconciliations between internal records, prime brokers, counterparties, banks, and the fund administrator.
• Accounting System Operations: Maintain the internal accounting system, produce daily and monthly trading profit and loss reports and AUM reports, and confirm settlement activity across trading strategies.
• Infrastructure Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other operations teams and technical teams across the company to support growth projects and scale Voleon’s infrastructure.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, or Accounting. This role requires a thorough understanding of financial reporting and its application to investment management funds.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in a hedge fund, public accounting for asset management, or as a fund administrator. Experience working with enterprise-level accounting software is also required.
• Skills: Advanced abilities in Microsoft Excel are essential for this role.
• Bonus: Experience automating manual processes is preferred, as is exposure to or interest in gaining experience with Python or SQL.
