Revenue Accountant | Runway

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Runway, with the flexibility to work remotely across the United States, or from offices in NYC, San Francisco, and Seattle. Runway is at the forefront of AI innovation, building models that simulate the world by merging art and science. The company believes world models are essential for solving complex challenges in robotics, disease, and scientific discovery, enabling progress through simulated trial and error. This Revenue Accountant role is pivotal in supporting this mission by taking complete ownership of Runway’s revenue accounting function, encompassing all aspects from revenue recognition for both B2B and B2C to invoicing, collections, accounts receivable, and deferred revenue. Your contribution will ensure the financial integrity and operational efficiency necessary for a team determined to continuously build impossible things.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: Remote – United States
• Mission: Own and scale Runway’s revenue accounting function, managing revenue recognition, invoicing, collections, accounts receivable, and deferred revenue.
• Tech Stack: NetSuite, Salesforce, Excel, Google Sheets

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Close Processes: Own the entire revenue close cycle by diligently preparing journal entries, accounts receivable and deferred revenue reconciliations, AR Aging reports, and comprehensive flux analyses for all revenue-related accounts.
• Oversee Order-to-Cash: Drive the full-cycle Order-to-Cash process, which includes precise invoicing, accurate cash application, meticulous aging analysis, and proactive collections efforts to ensure timely resolution of overdue accounts and billing disputes.
• Optimize Workflows: Identify opportunities and lead initiatives for process improvements across all revenue workflows, strategically utilizing AI tools to modernize and enhance accounting operations.
• Develop New Offerings: Build detailed revenue recognition workbooks specifically tailored for new products and evolving pricing models as they are introduced to the market.
• Ensure Financial Integrity: Partner collaboratively with Sales, Post Sales, FP&A, and Legal teams to effectively resolve revenue and billing questions, validate order forms against established revenue treatment guidelines, implement robust controls over the revenue process, and serve as a key point of contact for external audit requests.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: 3+ years of progressive revenue accounting experience, including ASC 606 in a SaaS or technology environment, and Big 4 or public accounting experience.
• Skills: Proficiency with NetSuite, Salesforce, or comparable ERP/CRM systems; advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills; strong understanding of internal controls and audit coordination.
• Bonus: CPA certification is a plus.
