Staff Accountant | HEI Hotels & Resorts
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at HEI Hotels & Resorts, located in Parsippany, NJ, specifically at the Sheraton Parsippany Hotel. HEI Hotels & Resorts is a hospitality management company that owns and operates a diverse portfolio of hotels, including the Sheraton Parsippany. This role is crucial for maintaining the financial health and operational integrity of the hotel by ensuring accurate accounting practices and safeguarding company assets. You will contribute to the meticulous financial reporting and operational efficiency that supports an exceptional guest and employee experience at the “Castle.”

• Team: Reports to the Controller
• Mission: This person is responsible for assisting the Controller in managing financial activities, safeguarding assets, and preparing accurate financial reports for the hotel.
• Tech Stack: Property Management System, Personal computer, Calculator
What You’ll Actually Do
• Daily Audit: Verify the accuracy of Night Audit work, including banquet check extensions and coding, and review sales and promotion checks.
• Accounts Receivable: Post city ledger payments, reconcile, bill, and perform credit collections for all city ledger accounts, identifying potential uncollectible accounts.
• Credit Card Processing: Reconcile credit card backups to the General Cashier Summary, bill out credit card accounts, and maintain accurate logs.
• Accounts Payable: Verify adherence to purchasing procedures, route and process all approved invoices for timely payment, ensuring accuracy and proper coding.
• Financial Record Keeping: Handle vendor inquiries, reconcile vendor statements, and maintain organized files for open, paid, and voided invoices and general ledger reconciliations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Foundational understanding of accounting principles within an operational business context.
• Experience: Prior experience in an accounting role.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail, ability to compile and analyze financial figures, effective verbal and written communication skills, and proficiency in operating a personal computer and calculator.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is preferred, or previous accounting experience specifically within the hotel industry.
