Healthcare Administrative Fellowship – June 2027 | University of Missouri Health Care

The Tone:
This is a full-time fellowship at University of Missouri Health Care, located in Columbia, MO, with a standard Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. MU Health Care is an academic health system recognized as one of Forbes’ Best-in-State Employers, encompassing seven hospitals, including the region’s only Level 1 Trauma Center and a Children’s Hospital, alongside over 90 specialty clinics. What You’ll Actually Do
• Gain Operational Insight: Complete immersive departmental rotations to gain broad exposure and comprehensive knowledge of hospital and ambulatory operations, while actively building a network of professional contacts within the organization.
• Drive Business Solutions: Lead projects and teams, applying project management and change management processes and tools to effectively solve business problems and drive solutions.
• Develop Leadership Skills: Gain practical, hands-on experience across a variety of administrative activities specifically designed to prepare for future leadership roles within healthcare.
• Collaborate with Executives: Participate in a structured, collaborative mentorship program directly with senior executive leaders, gaining guidance and strategic perspective.
• Assume Interim Leadership: Serve in interim leadership capacities as opportunities become available, demonstrating inclusive leadership and contributing to the MU Health Care mission.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This role requires a Master’s degree in healthcare administration, public health, public administration, or business administration, or an equivalent degree. Candidates must obtain this degree within three months of employment as a condition of continued employment in this job classification.
• Experience: Applicants with an MBA or MPA must have either a minimum of nine health care-specific credit hours or at least six months of health care work experience.
• Skills: The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and be a collaborative communicator. They should demonstrate the ability to balance multiple priorities in a complex work setting, show initiative, embrace continuous learning, and lead with inclusivity, professionalism, and a commitment to service excellence.
• Bonus: Administrative internship experience or relevant work experience is preferred, along with any additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
