Union Home Mortgage operates the L.E.A.D Internship Program, designed to immerse students in the mortgage industry through a fun, interesting, and real-world environment. This role is crucial for assisting the accounting department with its daily operations, ensuring financial accuracy, and contributing to important company initiatives. Interns are treated as full-time Partners, gaining valuable experience and learning from experienced professionals.

What You’ll Actually Do
Process Improvement: Identify and recommend best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in specific accounting tasks.
Compliance Monitoring: Review daily financial activity to ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and understanding of business changes.
Financial Reporting: Support the monthly and annual close processes, including assisting with journal entries and complex account reconciliations.
Accounts Payable Management: Contribute to the accounts payable process by assisting with payments, accruals, reporting, and reconciliations.
Special Projects: Execute special projects assigned by the Controller and CFO, providing critical support to departmental initiatives and data compilation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: College student majoring in Accounting or a related field, with Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing.
• Experience: No specific years of professional experience are required for this entry-level internship.
• Skills: Strong Excel proficiency; excellent analytical ability and perseverance to solve problems with high attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks effectively within established timelines; self-starter mentality with strong detail orientation.
• Bonus: Prior internship or general office experience is highly preferred.
